Known as the royal palace and the Sultan of Johor's official residence, the Laman Mahkota Istana Bukit Serene is adorned with detailed and unique Art Deco-inspired aesthetic carvings. Guarded by the Sultan's private army, the Royal Johor Military Force (JMF), royal gatherings and celebrations are commonly held in the palace sprawling garden.
