Before being developed into a travel destination, Pulau Layang-Layang or Swallow Reef used to be a site for the Malaysian Navy. Originally a man-made island, it is an ideal location to catch sight of marine life like manta rays, turtles, barracudas, and white tip reef sharks. There is only one accommodation available on the island that is the 3-star Layang Layang Island Resort.
